Planning & quotes
Is there a charge to request a charter quote?
No. Requesting a quote is free and there is no obligation. Nothing is booked, and nothing is owed, until you choose a vessel and confirm the charter.
Can I request a quote before my group size is confirmed?
Yes. Give us your best estimate and say that it may change. Because every vessel has a legal passenger limit, let us know the final number as soon as you have it, especially if it goes up.
Can a wedding planner, assistant or travel agent request a quote for me?
Yes. Include the name and contact details of whoever will coordinate the charter, and tell us who the charter is for and how many guests will be on board.
Do I need to create an account to request a quote?
No. There are no accounts or logins. Send the Request a Quote form, email info@YachtCharterBoatRentals.com or call +1 305-515-4735.
Can I book a charter at short notice?
Sometimes. Last-minute charters depend entirely on which vessels are free, so for a date in the next few days, calling +1 305-515-4735 is usually the quickest way to check.

Vessels & charter styles
What is the difference between a motor yacht, a catamaran and a sailing yacht?
A motor yacht is powered by engines and is usually the fastest, with shaded decks and indoor lounges. A catamaran has two hulls, a wide, stable deck and easy swim access. A sailing yacht moves under sail for a quieter, classic day when the wind allows.
Which type of vessel is best for a large group?
Larger motor yachts and catamarans often suit bigger groups, but the deciding factor is each vessel's legal passenger limit, which is set by its certification and local rules. Tell us your exact number and we will only suggest vessels that can carry everyone.
Can guests with limited mobility join a charter?
Often, with planning. Boarding, steps between decks and bathroom access vary widely between vessels, so tell us about any mobility or accessibility needs and we will check which boats and departure points suit your group.
Can we bring a pet on board?
It depends on the vessel and local rules. Some operators welcome well-behaved dogs and others do not allow animals, so ask when you request a quote and we will confirm before you book.
Can I charter a yacht without a captain?
Charters without a captain, known as bareboat charters, require recognized boating qualifications and are not offered everywhere. Ask us if you hold suitable qualifications and we will tell you whether it is possible in your destination.
03 · On board
Life on board
What should I bring on a yacht charter?
Swimwear, a towel unless the vessel provides them, sunglasses, a hat, sun protection, a light layer for the evening breeze and any medication you need. Soft-soled shoes are best on deck, and some marine parks ask visitors to use reef-safe sunscreen.
Can we bring our own food and drinks?
Policies vary by vessel. Some charters welcome your own snacks, cake or drinks, while others supply all catering, so we confirm the rules for your vessel before you book.
Is there a bathroom on board?
Many yachts, catamarans and sailing yachts have a marine toilet, often called a head, but some smaller boats do not. We confirm the facilities on your vessel, which matters most on longer charters.
Should we tip the crew?
Tipping customs vary by country and operator. We can tell you what is usual in your destination and whether a crew gratuity is already included in your quote.
How can we avoid seasickness?
Choose a calm time of day, often the morning, consider a catamaran for its stability, stay near the middle of the boat in fresh air and watch the horizon. If you are prone to seasickness, ask a pharmacist or doctor about remedies before your charter.
04 · Weather & safety
Weather, safety & rules
What happens if the weather is bad on my charter day?
The captain and the local port authority decide whether it is safe to go out. Rescheduling and refund terms depend on the operator and are confirmed before you book, so flexible plans help in windy or stormy seasons.
Are life jackets provided?
Commercial charter vessels are generally required to carry a life jacket for everyone on board. Tell us the ages of any children so the operator can confirm suitable sizes.
Is it safe to charter during hurricane season?
Charters only run when the captain and authorities consider conditions safe, and many days in hurricane season are fine. Storms can still force last-minute changes, so flexible dates and travel insurance are sensible, especially in each region's peak months.
Do I need a passport for a yacht charter?
For a day charter that stays in one country's waters, you need only the documents required to travel to that destination, though carrying ID is wise. Trips that cross a border, such as from St. Thomas to the British Virgin Islands, require passports and customs clearance.
Can we drink alcohol on board?
Usually, for adults of legal drinking age, where local law and the vessel allow it. The captain can limit alcohol for safety, particularly before swimming or snorkeling.

Charter glossary
Frequently Asked Questions About Yacht Charter Terms
Quotes and destination guides use a few nautical terms. Here is what they mean.
What is a day charter?
A day charter is the private hire of a crewed vessel for a few hours, a half day or a full day, starting and finishing at a marina or an agreed pickup point, with no overnight stay.
What is a multi-day or term charter?
A charter lasting several days, usually on a larger crewed yacht with cabins, where guests sleep on board and follow a cruising route. It is offered only in some destinations and on suitable vessels.
What is the difference between a captained and a fully crewed charter?
A captained charter comes with a licensed captain who operates the vessel, while a fully crewed charter adds deckhands or hospitality crew. Which arrangement applies is confirmed for each vessel.
What does "six-pack" mean for U.S. charters?
In U.S. waters, a "six-pack" is an uninspected passenger vessel that may carry no more than six paying passengers. Larger groups need a vessel inspected and certificated by the U.S. Coast Guard for that number of passengers.
What is a tender?
A small boat carried on or towed behind a yacht to ferry guests between the yacht and a beach, dock or shallow anchorage where the yacht itself cannot go.
What is the difference between anchoring and mooring?
Anchoring means lowering the boat's own anchor to the seabed, while mooring means tying up to a fixed buoy. Many marine parks require moorings, or ban anchoring in places, to protect coral reefs and seagrass.
What is a flybridge?
An open upper deck on many motor yachts, with a second helm station and seating, which gives the best views when cruising. Whether a yacht has one depends on its design.
What does APA mean on a yacht charter?
APA stands for advance provisioning allowance, a sum some multi-day crewed charters add to cover running costs such as fuel, food, drinks and port fees, with the balance accounted for at the end. If it applies to a charter, it is explained in the quote.
What is a sportfishing boat?
A boat built for offshore fishing, with features such as rod holders, live-bait wells and a fighting chair. Fishing charters use these dedicated boats rather than standard cruising yachts.
What is a knot?
A knot is a speed of one nautical mile per hour, about 1.85 kilometers or 1.15 miles per hour. Speed limits near shore and around wildlife, such as Washington's 7-knot rule near Southern Resident killer whales, are set in knots.
What is a monohull?
A boat with a single hull, as most sailing yachts and motor yachts have, as opposed to a catamaran's two hulls. Monohulls tend to roll more than catamarans in waves, but many offer a classic sailing feel.
